Could I hack your blog?
Last week I received a most disturbing post from one of my favorite “guru’s”, Willie Crawford.
Here’s what really got to me…
A few months ago, I noticed that one of my web servers was
crashing every few days. My web host took one look and said
that I had too many programs running simultaneously. After a little digging around, I discovered that hackers had
placed a program on my server that was engaged in doing some
fairly nasty things. That program got onto my server via an out-of-date script. It
was a script that I installed on a website, decided not to use,
and then ignored. I should have deleted it!
Now, what made this particularly important is that I was relocating a number of domains (sites included) to a new web host after experiencing a similar problem when my old web host migrated stuff to a new data center.
I found some pretty malicious code on some of my sites. I knew it was there. In fact, I’d researched it early on with some of the big anti-hacking sites, and they had said it looked like a benign MySql injection that didn’t seem to have purpose. I tend to think otherwise, as it tripped more than one alarm with my new web host.
So, when I got that email from Willie, I went looking…
That’s when I found the solution I told you about in my last post.
I challenged you to do a simple test. Simply go to http://ask-us.biz/wp-content/themes and see what you find. Then I asked you to go to your own domain and add /wp-content/themes and see what you find.
If you can see your directory tree… that’s the list that shows all the themes you’ve got squirreled away and aren’t using… you’ve got a big-time security hole!
I also told you that while Willie is selling the “solution” for $12, I felt your security was important enough I’d come up with a way to give you a “Personal Use” license at no cost. All you have to do is ask by filling out your name and email address at the bottom of this page
Now, being the pro-active Internet Marketer that I am, I’ve been working my way through the entire list of every single blog advertised with me on Entrecard over the past 13 months. I’m discovering there are a lot of you who have the above problem.
So, just exactly what’s in this security solution?
Not only does the package author provide you the code for correction of your security problem, he goes a couple steps further and provides you some really awesome instruction on SEO.
Also included are three video downloads where he steps you through the process of securing your WordPress blog, while also improving your position in Google and other search engines.
He explained a couple things to me that really cleared a lot of confusion regarding search engine optimzation and keyword selection.
I’m going to make it even easier for you to get this very important download. Simply give me your name and email address and you can get the download directly without reading any “sales page”. You still get the whole package, security solution, SEO stuff, and the videos.

This is great info! I probably won’t use it, because my blog is basic blogger, and I’ve never uploaded any scripting in my life lol, but this is something that everyone should know, whether they upload script or not. In the future when they do, they will know how to keep it safe!

Yes, this particular package is strictly for folks who host their own Wordpress scripts.
I think the lesson here is that we should all be more diligent in updating scripts, and that includes responding to the update notices from folks like Microsoft and Apple as they apply patches to our locally stored stuff.
