Entrecard: System Updates Phase 1
Entrecard has announced they are entering into phase one of their platform updates as they prepare for the third-party advertising program and eventual cash buy-back of Entrecredits.
Over the next 24 hours a number of changes will take place, including a long-requested upgrade.
If your blog is not showing another Entrecard ad, it will now show a “template” which says, “This is an Entrecard Widget”. The link will take the viewer straight to Entrecard’s home page.
There are a few other technical upgrades which are detailed here.
Also, it was apparently announced on the today.com forum that Entrecard members have 2 weeks to remove the Entrecard widget from their today.com blogs.
IMHO, this is a very bad move by the powers that be at today.com. I understand they need to control income so they can pay the bloggers, however, in a free-market world, this seems pretty restrictive.
Since bloggers who write for today.com also cannot have Adgitize widgets, those bloggers are being denied two very effective ways to drive traffic to their web sites.
