Entrecard update: No fees, page scroll ok
After listening to some very vocal members, the fee to deny an ad has been rescinded. Also, instead of having to place the Entrecard widget above the first fold, members will be allow two page scrolls.
I haven’t seen (nor do I really care) how the ad program will work. Well, actually I do care a bit, as I will have to revise my own “Loyal Advertiser Program”. That’s my problem, not Entrecard’s.
As for the two page scroll rule, I heartily applaud anything that will cause the widget to be shown in a better position.
IMHO, the idea of placing the Entrecard widget at the bottom of your page hoping that means you’ll spend more time… and maybe read something is totally misquided marketing theory.
The reality of Entrecard (where you get “credit”) and Adgitize (where you also get “credit”) encourage the drop and run mentality. I’m guilty of it myself.
But let me be clear.
When you post a new article, I stop and read. I don’t leave many comments. In fact, I comment on less than 1% of the posts I read. That’s because unless I have something to add that will stimulate further discussion, it’s pointless.
I’m now looking forward to more details about the daily value of credit exchanges, and the paid advertising details.

Yes, I’m afraid it’s turning a bit ugly, but I intend to stick it out.
A lot of folks have never learned how to argue without getting personal. Unfortunately feelings are getting hurt and that’s not good.
As for me, it’s a business decision. I welcome additional monetization on a tested platform. I don’t know exactly how this will work, but that’s also not my problem. As long as the ads remain family friendly, are shown in the same 125×125 format, and I am rewarded in some equitable fashion, then I’m ok with the changes.

Thanks for the update. I was hearing a lot of uproar about the changes at EC and I’m glad I just stepped back and waited it out. I’m like you - read when there’s something new to read, comment rarely.
