Life After Entrecard: Discover StumbleUpon

By admin - Last updated: Saturday, April 18, 2009

This blog is an Entrecard-free zone. It is moving on and moving up as I discover the real value of social networking.
My latest study is StumbleUpon.
Instead of mindlessly dropping cards, bribing people to advertise by giving away credits, I am simply visiting blogs/sites, commenting when appropriate, and doing reviews as I find sites not [...]

After several weeks of waiting, Entrecard has launched it’s third-party advertising program.
In a nutshell…
As a viewer, you’ll see no difference. The ads will run in the same widget up to 50% of the times an ad is seen.
As an advertiser…
I have suspended the “Advertiser Loyalty Program” until I can evaluate the impact on how many [...]

After listening to some very vocal members, the fee to deny an ad has been rescinded. Also, instead of having to place the Entrecard widget above the first fold, members will be allow two page scrolls.
I haven’t seen (nor do I really care) how the ad program will work. Well, actually I do care a [...]

Talk about something to wake up to on Sunday morning…
Subject: Important Entrecard Announcement

Paying attention to stats

By admin - Last updated: Friday, March 6, 2009

Over the past few months, I’ve been paying more attention to my stats. For example, with a current Alexa rating of 121,186, it won’t be long before I can feel confident about adding the Alexa widget to this site.
With Twitter (thanks a lot to Entrecard), I now have way more followers than I could [...]

By admin - Last updated: Thursday, January 29, 2009

Continuing the work of “growing this blog”, here’s the new look. You’ll notice the advertising has been moved to the right side bar, and “blog stuff” is on the left side.
In keeping with the Google Adsense requirements, there is now a Privacy Policy listed. I’ve always had a “personal privacy policy” which included the highest [...]

Could I hack your blog?

By admin - Last updated: Monday, January 12, 2009

Last week I received a most disturbing post from one of my favorite “guru’s”, Willie Crawford.
Here’s what really got to me…
A few months ago, I noticed that one of my web servers was
crashing every few days. My web host took one look and said
that I had too many programs running simultaneously.
After a little [...]
