One week later, after inserting this blog into a few traffic exchanges, the Alexa rating has gotten considerably better. At 3,513,077 it’s still a far cry from where it needs to be to do any real good… but it’s on it’s way UP!
To be fair, I’ve also added the Firestats box so you can see what kind of volume I’m generating.
Now, let’s be honest here… this is not HIGH QUALITY traffic. It’s a 10 sec - 30 sec load on a browser of someone who’s real reason for surfing is to earn credits so they can show me their page.
Shortly, I’ll be changing the page shown to a splash alternating with a squeeze page.
Oh… you didn’t know there was a difference?
Here’s a quick and dirty explanation.
A splash page is something that loads very quickly, and is designed strictly to get your viewer to click the link, taking them to the meat of whatever it is you’re offering.
A squeeze page is a page that is similar to your splash page, but REQUIRES your potential lead to give up at least an e-mail address before proceeding to the meat of your offer.
Time for a personal opinion…
For me to give up my e-mail address to anyone on a squeeze page, I expect them to first give me a substantial reason to give up my address. I don’t like “blind pages” where I’m not allowed to see who wants my address. I look for full disclosure, and if I don’t get it, I don’t give any information.
One more thing…
To me, it’s RUDE to have sound and/or video that automatically loads on any site. Offer me the opportunity to listen and or view something… but don’t insult me by forcing music, a lame presentation, or a download of some video that hangs up my browser.

My 2 cents, I usually don’t go to blogs, which require me to sign up. More than anything else, I just find it too much effort.
What about RSS subscriptions? how do you plan to handle it? I’m asking coz I’ve subscribed to this blog

Hi chica,
In the upper left hand corner, you’ll see my FeedBurner “Smart Feed”. You can subscribe through there.
The sign up form is to get on a special newsletter list. I’ll be limiting that list to US Residents only, as the business I’m offering is only open to the USA.
The traffic tips work world wide.
Hope that helps,
Shari
