I really hate to have to make this post, but feel it is necessary.
With Web 2.0 techniques, you expose yourself to some real idiots in the world. As you go around posting at forums, participating in Social Communities, there are folks out there who would just as soon take advantage of you.
Last night, I received a voice mail (land line that I monitor) from a fellow who said he’d been to my BookWise site after visiting a forum. I returned his call, only to discover he wouldn’t accept a call from a restricted phone number (our personal number is unpublished).
I borrowed a cell phone and called his number. Now, this was shortly after 8pm my time… and I got his office voice mail… strange indeed. I explained in my message that I would like him to call me once again at the number provided on my site.
About 15 minutes later, I got a call on the cell phone… from him. I once again asked him to return his call on the other number… so far, I’m still waiting.
In the meantime, I did a little digging… it’s really easy to simply list a phone number at Google and get all kinds of information.
The individual’s name is Mike Bromell, and he sometimes goes by Bob Morgan. His phone number is 512-291-6875.
The reason I’m listing it is because I found considerable evidence of poor business practices.
Here’s the scam…
This individual cruises forums and then visits sites to harvest information. He then places calls under the pretense that he is interested in your opportunity.
His REAL reason for calling is to attempt to sell you his services… supposedly he writes press releases for about $120 a piece.
Now, he claims to be a “heavy hitter” in the industry, and makes a huge income… I have to question… why would he be cruising forums and harvesting information?
Oh, and according to at least one forum thread at the WAHM forum, he seems to be rather rudeĀ and even foul-mouthed.
What should you do if you get a call from him? Simply tell him nicely you’re not interested in his services (unless you really do want his services). If he persists, report him to the proper authorities in Austin (Round Rock) Texas.
Oh, and press releases are something you really should write yourself. There are all kinds of free templates to use.

I just found your post. You are so right for warning people. I am his next target to abuse. Mike Bromell originally called me the first of November and I finally made contact with him on Nov. 12. It is exactly as you stated. He acted like he was interested in my business. Only to say I needed his PR services. I told him very politely no thank you, that if I wanted to do a PR that my upline would help me with that as they are doing so for themselves. He proceeded to tell me that they were idiots and I was an idiot for not using his services. He went on to throw several F Bombs at me and called me other names. Yes I should have hung up immediately but this lunatic ticked me off. I told him I didn’t appreciate his attitude and that set him off. Well he called back one more time, I did not answer.
He bad mouthed me. my upline, my business. Flash forward to today at WAHM the very same link you posted. He apparently found us and targeted me right away. Now our thread is locked thanks to him. This guy is a psycopath (sp?)! Here is a post I found on how he does this to women>>>

scroll down to post dated Dec. 5th.
At the WAHM forum he claims I used his services and stiffed him for $250. And that I called him drunk and cussing of all things. The post above specifically says he is the one who rants and raves while drunk. LOL but he is claiming the opposite. It’s almost laughable except for the fact that I don’t appreciate him trying to damage my integrity as a business woman. So I say thank you for posting about this scamming drunk.
Sincerely,
Vicki Hawthorne

Regarding the reply I sent you earlier. That thread at WAHM…all his posts were deleted. I sent the owner an email and apparently she took them off. So anyway, I didn’t want you to think what in the world is this lady talking about. His offending posts are gone.

He’s also posting on the Austin craigslist in various categories. Beware.

For those of you in the Austin area, simply report him to the Craigslist authorities and they’ll remove his stuff.

What a bunch of lowlifes ….
Great to see folks who are MLMers calling others “scammers”

Just so you know… Robb is a master Network Marketing trainer. I used to be in the same MLM as Robb, but not in his downline. I have no axe to grind with him.
I do believe there are bad apples in every industry segment, from banking (look at today’s mess) to MLM. Calling those bad apples out helps protect other people doing their “due diligence” before joining certain companies.
